A Hudson Valley man was charged with alleged robbery and menacing after stealing items from a car parked in a handicapped space and then attacking a person who attempted to intervene. The incident occurred in Orange County around noon on Thursday, Aug. 29, in the parking lot of Market 32 at 39 N. Plank Road in Newburgh. According to Lt. Bill Adding Fencing To Hudson Valley Bridges To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward
A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration. A man who was attempting to jump from a Hudson Valley bridge was pulled to safety by police and others who stopped to help. Higher toll rates are heading to several New York bridges in the region. According to the New York State Bridge Authority, as part of a four-year plan that began in 2020, the third of four rate hikes is set to take effect as of Sunday, May 1 in the Hudson Valley. Police Searching For Man Who Jumped From Bridge In Hudson Valley
Police in the area are searching for a man who jumped off a bridge in the Hudson Valley The incident took place at around 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 at the span of the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Ulster County. New York State Police have identified a man who was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge as they search for the vehicle and driver involved. The incident took place around 11:27 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, after Stephen Tomlins, 41, of Beacon, was seen by the New York State Bridge Authority by bridge security cameras walking on the southern span of the bridge, said Trooper AJ Hicks. A 29-year-old man died after jumping to his death from an area bridge on New Year's Day, said authorities. The apparent suicide by the resident of Dutchess County took place on the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, said Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Watterson. A quick-thinking Putnam County Sheriff's deputy was able to talk a man threatening to kill himself by jumping from the side of Bear Mountain Bridge out of ending his life. $14.7M Will Be Spent To Rehab I-84 Bridge In Two-Year Project
The New York State Bridge Authority awarded a $14.7 million contract to rehabilitate the Interstate 84 bridge over Route 9W in the Town of Newburgh. The project will affect I-84 motorists using the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge for two years. A state contract with Castleton-based A.
