Hurricane Ida Barrels Toward Gulf: Here's How Much Rainfall Storm Could Bring To Northeast Hurricane Ida is heading toward the United States coast, picking up strength as it moves over warm waters surrounding Cuba, with the potential to be a Category 4 storm when it makes landfall late in the weekend. The storm's long-term track takes it north and then east, with a possible impact on the Northeast in the middle of next week.
