Hours-Long Standoff Ends In Suicide In Area A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23,  when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. Sheriff's Deputy Seriously Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash In Area A sheriff's deputy was injured during a two-vehicle collision with a truck in the area.  The Putnam County Sheriff's deputy was injured around 12:40 p.m., Monday, May 17 in the area of the Fahnestock State Park, located in Carmel, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
