$300K Grant To Go Toward Crucial New Fire Training Center In Hudson Valley
Hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding from the New York State Senate are set to go toward a new fire training center to be used by countless departments in the Hudson Valley. In an announcement on Thursday, Aug. 29, New York State Sen. Pete Harckham revealed that $300,000 that he helped secure would be put toward the new Putnam County Fire Training Center, which is now under construction on Gipsy Trail Road (Route 41) in Carmel. New Director of Fire, Emergency Services Named In Rockland
Christopher Kear, the Deputy Fire Coordinator for Rockland County has been named Director of Fire and Emergency Services. Kear was promoted Monday by Rockland County Executive Ed Day. "Chris Kear is a highly trained and extremely experienced person who has already demonstrated his commitment to helping the people of Rockland," said Day. "Chris has been a career firefighter in Greenwich, CT, since 1998 and a volunteer at the Hillcrest Fire Company #1 since 1987. Rockland Welcomes 155 New Americans During Naturalization Ceremony
Rockland welcomed 155 new Americans on Friday, Feb. 2, during a touching Naturalization Ceremony at the Fire Training Center. Rockland County Executive Ed Day spoke during the ceremony about the importance of getting involved in the local community. Numerous local officials attended the ceremony, which was organized by Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato, who administered the Oath of Citizenship. The new citizens came from 43 different nations.
