House Fire Under Investigation In Rockland
A house in Rockland County went up in flames overnight, leaving the structure with smoke, fire and water damage, officials said.
First responders were dispatched to a Harold Street home in Nanuet shortly after midnight on Friday, Jan. 10, when the blaze broke out, Orangetown Police officials said.
Upon arrival, first responders found the vacant, single-family home with an active fire in the rear of the structure, including a deck.
Police noted that at the time the fire broke out, the home was vacant and under renovation.

Boy, 8, Dies After Boat Carrying Eight Flips Over In Area
An 8-year-old boy drowned after being underwater for some time when a boat carrying seven children and one adult flipped over in Haverstraw Bay.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, about 100 feet off of Haverstraw Bay, said Rockland County Sheriff's Chief William Barbera.
According to Barbera, the boat flipped over sending all eight occupants into the water. Most clung to the boat until help arrived, but the boy went underwater.
The child was recovered by dive team members, who immediately began CPR, Barbera said.

Firefighters from multiple municipalities battled a three-alarm blaze at a luxury condominium complex in Northern Westchester.
The fire broke out in a single unit at the Half Moon Bay complex in Croton, just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and there were explosions reported, according to authorities at the scene.
The fire, which was confined to the one unit, was brought under control by 10 a.m.

IDs Released For Two Killed, Four Injured In Plane Crash Into House Near Area Airport
The identities of the two people killed and four injured when a small plane crashed into a two-story home near a public-access airport in the area have been released.
The crash happened in Dutchess County just after 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17 on South Smith Road in Union Vale, just south of Sky Acres Airport and east of the Taconic State Parkway.
