Woman Killed In Two-Vehicle New City Crash Involving Drunk Driver, Police Say
A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a drunk driver that occurred overnight at Route 304 and Germonds Road in New City, police said. The crash happened around 1 a.m. Sunday, July 7. The woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Nyack Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Clarkstown Police said. The sole occupant and driver of the second vehicle, a man who police say was intoxicated, was transported to Westchester Medical Center for a non-life threatening injury that may require surgery, according to police. Off-Duty Officer Spots Large Black Bear In West Nyack
A jumbo black bear was spotted by an off-duty Clarkstown Police officer taking a stroll through a West Nyack neighborhood. The officer snapped the photo of the bear on South Greenbush Road in West Nyack near the Buttermilk Falls Trail. Police are reminding residents that the bears are wild animals and to avoid them at all costs.

Family Displaced After House Fire Breaks Out In New City
A family was left displaced after an early morning fire caused significant damage to their New City home. The fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m., Monday, June 24, by a firefighter who was driving by and spotted the flames at 56 S. Little Tor Road, officials said. "First in crews were faced with heavy fire conditions on the exterior rear of the home," said the New City Fire Department. New update: Clarkstown Police have identified the 35-year-old woman charged after an incident at the Palisades Center Mall. The woman, Sharean McDonald, was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor stemming from the incident that occurred around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13. She will appear at Clarkstown Justice Court at a later date. Police have also clarified that the two juvenile victims were not involved in the issue of the stolen sneakers and were falsely identified by the group that engaged in the assault. A 24-year-old woman is facing charges after police say she attempted to access an unauthorized account to make $2,200 in purchases at a Sprint store in Nanuet. A man is facing felony DWI charges after a Route 304 traffic stop in Rockland County, police say. Clarkstown Police observed a vehicle driving erratically on Germonds Road in New City Friday, Feb. 23 at approximately 10:30 p.m. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Route 304. During the interview with the driver, 51-year-old Hung Huynh of Jersey City, New Jersey, the officer allegedly noticed signs of intoxication. One person received minor injuries during a rollover crash on Saw Mill Road in New City. According to the Clarkstown Police, the crash took place around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 57 Saw Mill Road, due to slippery roads. An area woman arrested on cocaine charges after she drove a man who had been stabbed to the hospital has been identified as a Pearl River High School special education teacher. Denise Christensen, 53, of Pearl River, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 8, after Clarkstown Police officers responded to Nyack Hospital for a report of a man with stab wounds, said Clarkstown Police Det. Route 304 Closed Due To Overturned Truck
Motorists can expect major delays in the area as a stretch of Route 304 will be closed for several hours due to an overturned truck that has spilled debris across the roadway. Clarkstown Police said the crash occurred just before 10 a.m. just south of West Nyack Road in Nanuet covering the roadway with debris that will have to be cleared, as well as having the truck towed.
