Google Takes Clarkstown Students On Expeditions

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Over the course of the past week, Google has been visiting with classrooms throughout the area, demonstrating the company's new application, the Google Expeditions Pioneer Program, a virtual reality platform built for the classroom.

Early in the week, Lakewood Elementary School students in grades two through five took part in teacher-guided virtual tours of the American Museum of Natural History, Brazil, Historic Philadelphia, Mexico and China.

Teachers are able to take their classes on these tours by syncing the individual cell phone based Google viewers that the students look into with a tablet they use to guide the entire class from one location to another.
