Carlucci Leads Italian-American Culture Celebration

CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- State Sen. David Carlucci, D-Rockland-Westchester, led the annual Italian-American Day celebration in Albany on June 6.

The celebration was in partnership with the New York Italian American Conference of State Legislators, of which Carlucci is also president.

Italian-Americans from across the state gathered at the annual Albany conference to celebrate their heritage and pride with authentic cuisine. Attendees also networked with advocates to come up with new ways of honoring the contributions of New York's Italian-Americans.

Carlucci presented actress Torrey DeVitto with an award. DeVitto has starred in television shows such as "Chicago Med" and "Army Wives."

Carlucci also presented an award to former Major League Baseball player and coach Libero "Lee" Mazzilli.

Both DeVitto and Mazzilli were honored for their dedication and commitment to the Italian-American community.

“Italian-American Day in Albany brings together Italian-Americans from across New York to celebrate our vibrant culture and celebrate with our friends and colleagues," said Carlucci. "I was proud to honor Torrey DeVitto and Lee Mazzilli for their contributions to highlighting the accomplishments of Italian-Americans every day and I look forward to holding this event next year."
