NANUET, N.Y. - Clarkstown police are searching Friday for a robbery suspect in the area of Main Street and Church Street.

At approximately 10:26 a.m. the Clarkstown police officers responded to a call for help in the area of Main Street and Church Street in Nanuet for a report of a robbery that had just occurred, police said.

Responding officers interviewed a male victim who said that an unknown male pushed him to the ground and took his bag that he was holding. 

The police department is searching the area for a suspect described only as a male wearing a black hoodie and jeans. 

Nanuet Schools were notified and were initially on a safety hold. The hold was lifted around 11:20 a.m.

There was no weapon reported to have been used in the robbery, police said.

Police advice residents to avoid the area as the search is being conducted.
