Police ID Man, 48, Found Dead After Sloatsburg Car Fire

SLOATSBURG, N.Y. -- The man found dead early Tuesday morning after what Ramapo Police are calling a "suspicious car fire" on Waldron Terrace off I-87 in Sloatsburg has been identified.

Ossen Lavaud, 48, of Middletown was found outside the burned Ford Taurus near a waste water treatment plant at approximately 12:20 a.m., police said.

The cause of death is under investigation is ongoing and the scene was secured, police said.

The Ramapo PD is being assisted by the Rockland County Sheriffs BCI and the Medical Examiner's Office. Sloatsburg FD responded to the fire.
