Palisades Mall Employee Stole $6.5K In ID Theft Scheme, Police Say

A Palisades Mall employee was nabbed for setting up an identification theft scheme at Kay Jewelers that netted her and an accomplice $6,500 worth of goods, according to the Clarkstown Police.

Jerisha Hall, 22, of Nyack was charged Tuesday after Clarkstown police responded to a complaint of an employee theft at the store in West Nyack, said Officer Peter Walker.

Responding officers interviewed a loss prevention employee who told them Hall had open fraudulent lines of credit under names of victims provided to her by a suspect known, Walker said.

Police found that Hall opened two lines of credit in January using the identity of a 70-year-old male from Monroe, and the second line of credit using the identity of a 58-year-old female from Montrose, Walker said.

Soon after the lines of credit were opened, the suspect who provided Hall with the identity information, entered the store, approached Hall and purchased a total of $6,500 worth of jewelry, police added.

The investigation into the unknown suspect will continue, Walker said.

Hall was charged with identity theft and falsifying business records. She is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $7,500 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
