Detectives from the department were dispatched to the resident’s home recently, where he stated that he sent $1,400 to an unknown person in the Philippines through Western Union on four separate occasions.

Police said that the victim told investigators that he signed into a romance app on his cell phone and believed he would be dating a model as a result of sending the money. Once the victim realized it was a scam, he deleted the app on his phone and police said “he will no longer send money to people he does not know personally.”
