Nanuet Man Formally Charged With Felony Manslaughter In Double-Fatal Crash

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Nanuet driver who was allegedly high when he drove through a red light on Route 304 on Sunday in a double-fatal crash has been formally charged with two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter, according to the Clarkstown Police.

Matthew Sindone, 23, was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and traffic device violations, police said.

Sindone, who was arrested two years ago by the Orangetown Police for allegedly breaking into numerous cars in Pearl River, was driving a black Lincoln MKT when he ran a red light on Route 304 at the intersection of Goebel Road, slamming into a Toyota Camry containing New City residents Neil Block, 69, and Aline Block, 68, killing both, said Officer Peter Walker with the Clarkstown Police Department.

Walker added that Sindone was impaired by a controlled substance at the time of the collision.

The Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation, working with the Clarkstown Detective Bureau, Rockland County Medical examiner and the Rockland County District Attorney.
