Jaws Of Life Used To Save Truck Driver After Crash Into Pole In Rockland

A garbage truck driver was rescued after losing control of his truck, taking down several utility poles and becoming entrapped in the truck.

The incident took place around noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6 on Linda Court in the village of Montebello, said the Ramapo Police Department on Facebook.

The truck hit a utility pole and tension within wires snapped two additional utility poles, they said.

The driver, who was trapped, was extricated by Tallman Fire Department firefighters using the Jaws of Life and was taken to hospital by Ramapo Valley ambulance. 

His Injuries not believed to be serious, the department said. 

As a result of the crash, the power was out for a few hours in the area and Linda Court was closed for at least eight hours.
