The suspect, Ruth Mendez, 29, reportedly was observed by a loss prevention employee taking three boxes of Chanel perfume valued at $340, police said.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Mendez had stolen from Lord and Taylor in November and had signed a trespass notice stating she would not return to the store, and if she did it would be a criminal trespass offense, police said.

Mendez was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was charged with felony burglary, criminal possession of stolen property petit larceny and criminal trespass.

Mendez is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $20,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11.
