WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- Arthur W. Landau, of West Nyack, died on Thursday, Dec. 15. He was 89.
Landau was born in 1927. He was the son of the late Arthur and Irma Landau. He moved from the Bronx to New City in 1959. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1946 and was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, and Active Pacific Medal 1 Star. Arthur joined the FDNY in 1953. He served first in Ladder 27 then went to Rescue 3. Throughout his career in the fire department, he received numerous Certificates of Merit for acts of bravery. He retired as a Supervising Fire Marshall. He was also a member of the FDNY Florian Society.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his 3 children, Tom (Jeanie) Landau, Meg (Craig) Landau Caselli, and Brian (Kerry) Landau; and grandchildren, Kara, Kevin, Kate, and Taylor.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack. Burial to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.
