Transport of Rockland (TOR) and TappanZEExpress (TZx) bus service suspended service effective 10 a.m. Saturday until further notice.
Numerous accidents have been reported in the county and police departments are urging motorists to stay off the roads.
Snow accumulation totals for Rockland have doubled with 12-18 inches now expected for most of the county except northern-most Rockland, where 8-12 inches are expected.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a State of Emergency.
Rockland remains under under a Winter Storm Warning.
The warning, originally scheduled to take effect at 6 a.m. Saturday, has been pushed up to 4 a.m. It was originally scheduled to expire at 1 p.m. Sunday. But is now is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Strong gusts of between 50 and 60 miles per hour are expected along coastal areas with power outages possible.
Snow, which started in the early morning in Rockland, should wind down in the late evening hours Saturday with snow showers winding down overnight.
Motorists are being urged to stay of the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C. to New York City. Nearly all flights have been canceled. Nearly all SAT tests scheduled throughout the area have been canceled with most rescheduled for Feb. 20.
