In accordance with the comptroller's recommendations, Rockland County Executive Ed Day said it will be his policy to reduce the audited year-end General Fund unreserved deficit fund balance each year by a minimum of 10 percent. Day said he will accomplish this by conservative budgetary practices and running government more efficiently. He said this has already yielded savings during the first two years of his administration.

Day said this will create a General Fund operating surplus and will avoid an additional burden to county taxpayers. If the 10 percent surplus is not achieved due to some unanticipated reason, Day will add any shortfall to his following years' budgets.

“We thank Comptroller DiNapoli for recognizing our continued efforts to restore fiscal stability to Rockland County,” Day said.
