The ride takes place annually on the third Wednesday of may and happens in single file and silence, according to lohud.com.
This year in Rockland the ride comes following the death of three bicyclists in the past year.
Alfred Zaldivar, 47, of New City died after he was struck on Old Route 304 and Cypress Street on May 9, 2015. Ed Brophy, 77, of Congers died after his bicycle was struck Aug.16, 2015, by a Tappan ZEExpress bus. William “Matt” George died when he was struck standing near the guardrail on Route 202 in Ramapo the night of Dec. 21, according to lohud.com.
