"Congratulations to this year's honorees for their dedication to their communities as well as the citizens of Rockland County," said Day. "May they serve as role models for others, both young and old, to follow in their footsteps."
The honorees chosen for their commitment to community are as follows:
Joseph A. Myers Service to Youth Award: Grace Chesterman, a senior at Clarkstown South High School and Brian Huang, a senior at Clarkstown North High School.
The award is based solely on the applicant's volunteer community service, not scholastic achievement or school related activities, clubs, etc. Both student winners will receive a plaque and a $1,000 check in recognition of their selfless commitment.
Dennis J. Fleming Award: Harriet Cornell for demonstrating a long-term concern for and involvement in promoting positive youth development to ensure our communities offer young people the services, supports and opportunities to ensure they can develop their full potential.
Youth Forum Business Award: Islamic Center of Rockland for demonstrating an active role in the promotion and support of children, youth and families in Rockland County.
Father F. Peter Malet Award: will be presented to Kerry Beckman for her work as a tireless advocate and worker on behalf of the children of Orangetown and neighboring Rockland communities.
