Rockland County Legislature Approves Agreements With Two Labor Unions

The contracts, with the Rockland County Civil Service Employees Association and the Rockland Association of Management, were approved this week by the Legislature. Both unions have been without contracts since they expired Dec. 31, 2013.

"I am grateful that both CSEA and RAM have ratified fair and responsible agreements that keep our county on a sustainable fiscal path. The contracts mean that our dedicated workforce will receive the fair wages and benefits they need and deserve, while ensuring Rockland County's taxpayers are protected," said Day. " Now that the Legislature has approved the resolutions, I will sign them."

Key provisions of the agreement include:

Four vacation days added to eligible employees' vacation leave balance on March 18, 2016.
A $750 lump-sum wage payment to eligible employees for 2015.
Wage increases: For 2016, an increase range of 4 percent for the lowest-paid workers (current hourly rate of $13.45) to less than 0.5 percent for highest-paid workers, effective Jan. 1 and July 31.

Unionized workers in Rockland County have not received a wage increase since 2010.
