Rockland Boces Fire Science Students Learn Forcible Entry Techniques

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Students from the Rockland BOCES Fire Science class learned real-life skills from the experts when they recently visited the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona.

The students, who are required to attend 79 hours of training, learned "forcible entry" techniques for inward and outward opening doors, a critical skill for 21st-century firefighting.

The Fire Science curriculum is part of the school's Criminal Justice program and includes basic firefighter training, which helps to prep students for the Firefighter I certification, an exam required by the state to become a volunteer firefighter.
