Rental Registry Now In Effect In Rockland

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. – Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced Thursday that the countywide Multiple Dwelling Rental Registry, the fourth part of the Rockland Codes Initiative, is now in effect.

The Rental Registry is another tool to ensure that everyone in Rockland is living in safe housing, according to Day. The Rental Registry is pretty straightforward: If a person owns three or more rental units, he or she has to register online with the Rockland County Department of Health and pay a $25 fee.

Day stressed that the goal of the Rental Registry is not to collect fines but to gain compliance.

The information provided will help the county keep track of rental housing and combat the overcrowding and unsafe conditions that have plagued parts of Rockland and put tenants at risk, according to Day.
