POMONA, N.Y. -- The New York Blood Center is asking donors to help maintain the community's blood supply during this holiday season.

A blood drive is set for Wednesday, from 8 to 4 p.m. at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemen's Memorial Drive in Pomona.

A single blood donation can be used to save multiple lives. 

Donors with O-negative blood type, or "universal donors," are especially encouraged to donate, as their blood can be used in emergencies.
