New York ranks 49th of all states, with $100 being worth just $86.43, according to the Tax Foundation. 

New Jersey doesn't get any bragging rights, coming in at 48th with $87.34, the research shows. 

Connecticut weighs in slightly better at 45th in the rankings, with $100 being worth $91.91.

To really get a bang for your hundred bucks, head south. 

In Mississippi, the No. 1 state, $100 buys you $115.34 in goods, followed by number 2 state, Arkansas with $114.29, according to the Tax Foundation.

Is there any state where $100 is worth, well, $100? Florida comes closest with $100.91.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis is part of the U.S Department of Commerce. Every two years it measures the prices of goods state-by-state.
