Fraud Screening Saves Rockland County Taxpayers Nearly $630K

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y – Rockland County announced the Department of Social Services has saved nearly $630,000 since January by rejecting fraudulent applications, according to LoHud.com.

In total, 89 applications have been rejected since the beginning of the year, the story said.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day has made it one of his goals to cut down on fraud, insisting the county's safety net not become "a hammock," reported LoHud.com.

The county has saved about $2.3 million since the beginning of 2014, the story said.
