Buckley Farms Work Upsets Some New City Neighbors

A neighbor alerted municipal officials when she saw the testing company take down trees at the site, some of which is federal wetland. After two visits, local officials cited the company for not having the necessary permit, lohud.com says.

Developers say the trouble is a result of misunderstanding between workers and local officials about what kinds of permits were needed, lohud.com reports. The environmental testing is part of the approval process to have New City officials review plans for 200 senior citizen apartments and 22 single-family houses

Developers say the property in Buckley Farms is a great spot for the senior housing because of proximity to shopping and transportation, but neighbors are worried that it would hurt the environment, lohud.com says.
