"Farming is real and meaningful, and people are not encouraged to think like that anymore," said Romero-Bosch, Wednesday evening at a talk at Valley Cottage Library designed to promote sustainable farms.
Rockland Farm Alliance is a non-profit that farms the former Cropsey Farm, as well the Keesler Farm, a 32-acre private farm, in New City, according to Romero-Bosch.
The group operates a Community Supported Agriculture program, in which members of the public pay from $750 and up to share in weekly harvests of locally-grown produce. The Valley Cottage Library will be a new location for pick-ups this season.
"Having farms is good business," the farmer said. "Farms have been forever revered, and we've lost that connection.
The RFA is hosting a walking tour of the Cropsey Farm on April 9th at noon at 220 South Little Tor Road in New City.
