Due to usage of air conditioning, fans and other cooling devices, homes also experience a spike in electricity consumption when mercury begins to climb. However, thanks to an innovative partnership between Suez and Orange and Rockland Utilities, homeowners can save big on their utility bills, while staying cool all summer long.
Although independently sourced and distributed utilities, water and energy are being increasingly understood as connected entities, due in part to their significant environmental and financial impact. At the forefront of this understanding are Suez and O&R. Through a combined effort designed to more clearly show customers the energy-water connection, the companies are offering money-saving incentives to help Rockland residents make their homes more water and energy efficient.
The rebate program, which applies to marked water and electrical products, offers both long and short term savings. For example, combined rebates from Suez and O&R can result in a discount of up to 80 percent on selected shower heads, with additional rebates and products scheduled to be added soon.
“The opportunity for customers to earn substantial rebates and lower their utility bills will help inspire them to replace their old washing machines, toilets, shower heads and other household devices with water and energy efficient appliances,” said Chris Graziano, vice president and general manager of Suez operations in New York. “We are excited to join with O&R in this innovative program.”
O&R originally launched its own energy conservation program in 2016, and has featured rebates on a wide variety of energy efficient products available for purchase online. Through the new partnership, Suez and O&R will share the same web-based platform to facilitate ease of integration for homeowners.
“This program represents a terrific opportunity for customers served by both Suez and O&R to help the environment by using special products designed to save water and energy," said Tim Cawley, president and CEO of O&R. "Using less water and energy means customers also will save on their water and energy bills."
Currently, few water and energy partnerships exist across the Northeast. However, both organizations expect this collaboration to become a model followed or adopted throughout the region.
