2 People Rescued After Cars Crash, Flip Into Swift Water Below Parkway In Region Two people had to cross a ladder over fast-moving water to get to safety after their cars crashed and overturned next to a stream during heavy rain in Northern Westchester.  The rescue happened on Sunday, Aug. 18 at around 4:30 p.m., when two vehicles crashed and flipped on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown, eventually ending up in a stream 100 feet off the road, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  Because of heavy rain that had just passed through the area, the normally small stream had turned into a "swift water scenario," the department said, …

Months-Long Closure Of Roadway In Northern Westchester Starts A months-long closure of a roadway in the region is now underway. The New York State Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling in Northern Westchester County that Illington Road will be closed at the Taconic State Parkway in the Village of Ossining. The DOT said the closure, from Monday, July 29, through Monday, Nov. 18, is to facilitate a bridge rehabilitation project, weather permitting. Motorists should follow the posted detour as an alternate. The roadway closure is necessary to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of key bridges in the Hudson Valley.

2 Hospitalized After Crash On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester Two people were taken to a trauma center after a serious crash on a parkway entrance ramp in Northern Westchester, including one person who had to be rescued from a vehicle.  The crash happened on Monday, July 15, when two cars collided on the Taconic State Parkway southbound entrance ramp leading from Crompond Road (Route 202) in Yorktown, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Car Goes Up In Flames On Parkway In Northern Westchester Firefighters raced into action after a car was consumed by flames on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester.  The blaze happened on Thursday, June 12 just after 8 p.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on the Taconic State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor, according to the village's fire department.  Arriving crews found the car engulfed in flames and were able to successfully put it out with no reported injuries.  A video of the blaze was later released by the department on Thursday, June 20.  At 2038 hours on Thursday, June 13th, the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department was …
