Road Rage: Shots-Fired Incident Under Investigation In Region

A road-rage confrontation on a busy highway led to the arrest of one man who allegedly fired shots at another car in the region.

The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the Dutchess Turnpike near Degarmo Road in the town of Poughkeepsie.

According to Capt. Ralph Cropley of the Poughkeepsie Police, an investigation found that a Dodge Ram and a Honda Accord were involved in the incident, and the driver of the Ram intentionally fired an illegally possessed handgun at the Accord, striking it and causing damage.

The driver of the Ram, identified as Jason M. Prigozen, age 49, of Loudonville, Ohio, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond, $40,000 bond, and $80,000 partially secured bail. 

Prigozen is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 28.

The New York State Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office assisted the town of Poughkeepsie police.
