Fiery Crash: Musician Killed In Capital Region Wreck Despite Frantic Efforts Of Good Samaritans
A beloved musician was killed in a crash and subsequent car fire in the region as good Samaritans desperately tried to save him. The Greene County incident happened at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, on State Route 9W in Catskill. New York State Police said Thomas Konow, age 61, of Claverack in Columbia County, was driving a GMC SUV southbound on SR 9W when the vehicle left the roadway, struck the wall of a railroad overpass, and caught fire. Driver Injured After Car Overturns On Hudson Valley Roadway
A driver was hospitalized following a rollover crash on a busy Hudson Valley road. The crash happened in Putnam County on Monday afternoon, July 22, when an Acura flipped on Milltown Road in the village of Brewster near the Connecticut border, according to the Brewster Fire Department. Arriving first responders found the driver trapped inside the vehicle and were able to free her before taking her to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash closed Milltown Road on Monday as the scene was cleared, the department said.

3 Dead Following Head-On Capital Region Crash
Three people were killed in a head-on highway crash in the region. The Greene County wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Route 23 in the town of Windham. Sheriff’s officials said a Buick SUV was heading eastbound on State Route 23 when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck near the intersection of Cross Road. Two passengers in the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third Buick passenger died at Albany Medical Center. A man died after he was found unresponsive in waters near a Hudson Valley beach, police announced. The incident leading to the man's death began in Putnam County on Tuesday, July 16 around 1:45 p.m., when a possible drowning incident was reported at Canopus Lake Beach in Fahnestock State Park off Route 301 in Kent. As the temperatures soared to 98 degrees, police in the Hudson Valley rescued a 1-year-old boy from a locked car. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 10 just after 9:30 p.m., when a car caught on fire in Carmel in the area of Gipsy Trail Road, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. A teenage girl was severely injured after jumping out of the back door of an Omni bus following a flat tire. The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, on I-84 in Middletown. A hazardous device team was called to a Hudson Valley property after a mortar shell was found during excavation work.
