The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office is introducing the Blue Envelope Program, a safety initiative to improve interactions between law enforcement and autistic drivers. Northern Westchester Woman Pursues Charges Against Nephew After Car Is Not Returned, Police Say
A family feud over a borrowed car could lead to criminal charges for a man in Northern Westchester after police were brought into the fold. On Saturday, Jan. 8, an Emmalon Avenue resident in North Castle advised investigators at the police department that she had allowed her nephew to borrow her vehicle in October 2021, and he has since refused to return it. According to the resident, on Jan. 8, she contacted her nephew about the whereabouts of her vehicle, and he replied that he had changed the VIN number and registered it under his own name. Man Nabbed Driving BMW With Stolen Tags After Tossing Trash Out Window, Police Say
A 62-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving a vehicle with stolen tags after he was stopped for making a U-turn and throwing garbage out of the car. Johnathan Sklan, of Brooklyn, was arrested around 2:18 a.m., Sunday, April 26, following a traffic stop on Hommelville Road in Saugerties, Saugerties Chief of Police Joseph Sinagra. According to the chief, officers pulled over a 1991 BMW after watching it allegedly make a U-turn while throwing garbage out of the vehicle. State May Be Softening Policy On New License Plates, Reports Say
Not so fast. New York state officials may be hitting the brakes on the new license plate plans that would have required drivers to pay to replace plates that are more than 10 years old. Under New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plan, beginning on April 1, 2020, if license plates are at least 10 years old, drivers will be charged $25 for new plates, regardless of their current condition. Drivers would also be charged $20 to keep their current license plate number. However, the new license plate, may not be mandatory. DWI Motorist, 69, Found Lying On Ground At Nyack Hospital Parking Lot
A 69-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he was found allegedly intoxicated outside of his car in the parking lot of Nyack Hospital. Airmont resident Michael Remmers was arrested for driving while intoxicated shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, June 4, when officers from the Orangetown Police Department were dispatched to the hospital, where there was a report of a man lying on the ground next to a Volkswagen Beetle, allegedly in an intoxicated condition.
