Man Killed After House Fire Breaks Out In Area, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was found dead inside a home following a residential structure fire. Orange County resident Roger A. Smith, age 60 of New Windsor was found around 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, following a house fire in New Windsor, officials said. According to New Windsor Police Chief Robert Doss, the fire started around 7 p.m. at 17 Shaw Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames and smoke, Doss said. Firefighting operations were started and firefighters made an interior entry to search the interior as well as fight the fire.  …

Man Killed In Head-On Crash With Tractor-Trailer In Area, Police Say An area man was killed during a two-vehicle crash with a tractor-trailer. The crash took place around 10:38 p.m., Friday, March 26, on Temple Hill Road, in New Windsor. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that a head-on collision between a 2019 Subaru and a semi-trailer had taken place, said New Windsor Chief of Police Robert Doss. A 1993 pickup truck was heading westbound on Route 207 (Little Britain Road) in the area of the Rock Tavern Post New Windsor and crossed into the eastbound lane and stuck a 2012 Toyota Camry at approximately 11:22 p.m., police said. One Injured In Crash That Causes New Windsor Road Closure Forge Hill Road is back open to traffic following a single-vehicle traffic crash that caused minor injuries to one person, New Windsor Police said. The crash happened about 1:11 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Forge Hill Road and Route 9W, said Vails Gate Fire Chief Chris Sweeny.  According to the chief, there were two occupants in the vehicle when the driver crashed, causing minor injuries to one person. Both people were transported to New Windsor Hospital for observation and treatment. Traffic was backed-up for a short time as the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
