Two Dead After Legionnaires' Disease Outbreak In NYC, With 24 Confirmed Cases
Two deaths have been linked to an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in New York City. The Health Department gave an update Wednesday, June 1, on its investigation into a community cluster of the illness in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx. Twenty-four people have been diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease in the area since Tuesday, May 3, according to health officials. Four people are hospitalized. Man Arrested For Assault, Criminal Mischief In Area
A man is facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting someone at his home in the area. Greene County resident Keith A. Smith, age 41, of Greenville, was arrested Friday, April 15, after state police responded to a verbal altercation call at his home on Hill Street. Investigators said Smith and the victim got into an argument and he punched the individual in the head and smashed their cell phone.
