State Suspends Construction-Related Lane Closures Over Peak Holiday Driving Times
Christmas has come early for travelers in New York, as all temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects has been suspended on state highways. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all road work behind temporary lane closures ended beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 and lasting until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26. New Cashless Tolls Coming To Westchester: Here's When, Where
As a record number of Americans prepare to travel for the holiday season, more cashless tolls are coming to the New York Thruway in the Hudson Valley. The New York State Thruway Authority announced that the toll plazas on I-95 in New Rochelle and I-87 in Spring Valley will soon be outfitted with cashless tolling technology. Would-Be Jumper On NY Thruway Shuts Down Traffic, Causes Gridlock In Area
A man who climbed a sign on the New York Thruway threatening to jump has been removed and is now in custody. The incident took place around after 3:30 p.m. Monday when the unidentified man climbed the sign along I-87 at Scotland Hill Road in Spring Valley, confirmed the New York State Police. Traffic was shut down in both directions, causing gridlock, as police and first responders worked to remove the man from the sign, police said. Traffic is tied up on I-87 in Rockland County on Monday afternoon as contracting crews leaped into action to repair a slab of pavement. The latest overnight lane and ramp closures near the new Tappan Zee Bridge have been announced as crews continue working on the Westchester landing.
