Man Struck, Killed By Car In Hudson Valley A man was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing a busy roadway in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 10 p.m., Saturday,  June 18 in Wappingers Falls on South Avenue near West Academy Street. The responding officers found Robert English, age 44, of Wappingers Falls, critically injured in the roadway, said Commissioner Charles Ferry, of the Wappingers Falls Police Department. ID Released For 23-Year-Old Killed In Crash On Busy Hudson Valley Roadway State police have released the identity of a Hudson Valley man killed in a crash with a tree truck on a busy roadway. The crash took place in Orange County in the town of Tuxedo on Old Route 17 around 7:30 a.m., Monday, April 18, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Ahkem Chu III, age 23, of Chester, was driving a 2007 Honda Accord southbound on Old Route 17 when for unknown reasons he crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a tree truck that was fully loaded, Nevel said. Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Busy Hudson Valley Roadway A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle along a busy Hudson Valley roadway. The incident took place in Rockland County around 8:20 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23 in West Nyack. According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police, a man was struck by a vehicle in the area of 116 N. Route 303. The first arriving officers found the man lying on the right shoulder of northbound Rt. 303, Peters said. Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Stretch Of Busy Roadway In Area A busy roadway in the area is shut down to one lane following a seven-vehicle crash including a school bus with eight students aboard. The crash took place early Wednesday, Jan. 26, on Route 17 in the Orange County town of Wallkill, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Although one lane of traffic has opened, traffic is being diverted at Crystal Run Road, Nevel said. No information regarding injuries was available at this time. 18-Year-Old Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash In Region A man from the region died in a single-vehicle rollover crash. Sullivan County resident Robert J. Lands, age 18, of Neversink, was killed around 3:50 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, after rolling his car at 482 Stanton Corners Road in the town of Liberty, said the New York State Police. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, an investigation revealed that a 1995 Dodge-Ram was traveling on Stanton Corners Road and failed to negotiate a curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway on the north shoulder and overturn.  Lands was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
