Illegal Marijuana Dispensary: Man From Region Busted, Police Say
A man from the region was busted for allegedly running an illegal marijuana dispensary without a license.
Sullivan County resident John T. Lomio, age 36, of Yulan, was charged on Monday, July 31, in the town of Highland.
Sullivan County sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant on Monday, July 31, at Lomio's mobile office trailer known as the Green Room, in the parking lot of River's Edge Restaurant and Motel located at the intersection of Routes 97 and 55 in the hamlet of Barryville, said Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty.

Man Enters Manslaughter Plea For Crash That Killed Hudson Valley Man
A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the connection with a crash that killed a man in Sullivan County.
James Greco, age 52, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, pled guilty on Wednesday, May 11, to felony vehicular manslaughter, said Sullivan County District Attorney Meagan Galligan.
According to Galligan, Greco was driving a pickup truck on Route 42 in the Town of Fallsburg on Friday, May 21, 2021, with oxycodone and fentanyl in his system, crossing a double yellow line and crashing into a vehicle driven by Jose Daniel Roldan-Roldan, age 29, of Spring Valley.

Man Accused Of Helping His Wife Die By Suicide In Region
A man from the area has been arrested and charged with manslaughter for allegedly helping his wife commit suicide.
Sullivan County resident Kenneth Alger III, age 38, of Liberty, was arrested in March after his wife's body was found in a cemetery in Liberty.
Alger was indicted by a grand jury for manslaughter that alleged around Tuesday, Feb. 28, he intentionally "caused and aided Amanda Alger, age 31, his wife, to commit suicide," the indictment said.

Two Brothers Nabbed For Murder Of Missing Man From Region
Two brothers have been arrested for the alleged murder of a missing area man.
The New York State Police arrested two Sullivan County men, Jack Carter, age 21, and Nick Carter, age 26, both of Glen Spey, on Wednesday, Jan. 19, for the murder of a missing area man.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a missing person report for 74-year-old Mark Eckert, of Glen Spey, who was last seen at his home on Saturday, Jan, 15, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
An investigation ensued and on Jan. 19, Eckert's was located dead on his property, Nevel said.

Police Nab Suspect In Gruesome Murder Of Mother Of Four In Region
Seven years after the gruesome murder of an area mother of four, New York State Police have arrested a suspect.
Keymarro Guiden, age 48, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was extradited to Sullivan County, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in connection with the May 2014 murder of April Parker, age 31, of Monticello, said the New York State Police.
On Wednesday, Dec.1, 2021, the New York State Police, with the assistance of the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, arrested Guiden and charged him with second-degree murder, said Trooper Steven Nevel.

Suspect Nabbed For Murder Of 90-Year-Old Woman In Area
An area woman was found dead inside her home after police received a 911 call for a possible homicide.
Sullivan County resident Louisa S. Butler, age 90, of the town of Liberty, was found dead inside the home around 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
As a result of the investigation, state police charged James M. Brodie, age 75, of Liberty, with second-degree murder, Nevel said.
State police declined to release information on Brodie's connection to the victim.

Man Who Shot At Troopers In Area Charged With Attempted Murder, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who fired at New York State troopers during a domestic dispute and was in return shot by troopers has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Orange County resident Patrick Hermanowski, age 39, of Westbrookville, was charged on Tuesday, Sept. 14, and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
According to Nevel, the incident took place around 2:50 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12, when troopers and the Deerpark Police responded to a 911 call in Westbrookville.

Man, Woman Charged For Double Homicide At Home In Area
An Orange County man and woman have been arrested for the double murder of two men.
Chasity Cutway, 37, and David Host, 32, both of Walden, were arrested on Thursday, Jan. 14, by New York State Police, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Both were charged with first-degree murder and burglary connected to the deaths of Glenn Travis and Derek Travis at their Sullivan County home on Murphy Road in Swan Lake, Nevel said.

A 31-year-old man was nabbed during a warrant search with a cache of drugs and a stolen .22 Ruger rifle.
Sullivan County resident Anthony Janik, of Livingston Manor, was busted on Monday, June 8, by the New York State Police following an investigation into drug sales, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
During the search, investigators seized 41.5 grams of heroin, Diazepam, Ecstacy, Lyrica, glassine envelopes, and a stolen .22 Ruger rifle.
