For high school seniors, spring is a nerve-wracking time as college decisions roll in — but the class of 2025 is more stressed than ever, according to a new survey. The Princeton Review said 73 percent of students and parents reported "high" or "very high" stress over the admissions process. Here's When SAT Will Go Completely Online, College Board Says
The SAT, a standardized test used for college admissions, is set to move to a completely digital format. Students outside of the United States will start taking the SAT digitally in 2023, and in the US, the digital test will start being administered in 2024, the College Board announced on Tuesday, Jan. 25. According to the announcement, a variety of other changes will be made to the exam. Math, English Language Arts Standardized Test Scores Improve Across NY
New York State students saw an uptick in standardized testing scores for students in grades 3 through 8, the State Education Department announced. The Education Department released the results of the 2019 English language arts (ELA) and math tests. In ELA, 45.4 percent of test-takers scored at the proficient level. In math, 46.7 graded at a proficient level. The numbers represent a .02 percent increase for ELA and 2.2 percent for math from 2018. 987,398 students took the ELA, while 948,606 took the math test. New York Abandons Use Of Student Tests In Teacher Evaluations
Teacher evaluations will no longer be tied to student’s standardized test scores under a bill that was approved by state legislators. Four years ago, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a highly contested bill into law that linked student’s test scores to teacher evaluations. The legislation quickly came under fire and was contested by both parents and educators. The 2015 bill led to approximately 18 percent of students statewide opting out of standardized testing in grades 3 through 8. Now, Cuomo is poised to sign a new bill backpedaling those measures. This Orange County School District Among Best In State For SAT Scores
Highland Falls Central School District ranked 33rd among 600 districts statewide for its total average score on the SAT tests, according to this article in newyorkupstate.com A total of 74 Highland Falls students took the SATs, with an average score of 1170. Highland Fall's average score on the Evidence-based Reading and Writing portion of the SATs was 588. Their students averaged 582 on the math SATs.
