Storm Update: Tornado Watch Issued For These NY Counties
As thunderstorms, some severe, sweep through the region, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for parts of New York. The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 in the counties shown in yellow. In New York, those counties are: Sullivan Allegany Broome Catttaragugus Cayuga Chautauqua Chemung Chenango Cortland Delaware Livingston Madison Oneida Onondaga Ontario Oswego Otsego Schuyler Seneca Steuben Sullivan Tioga Tompkins Wayne Yates The time frame for the most severe storms from the system began at 5 p.m. and will last through around 9 p.m. Saturday. Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Much Of Region
With a round of storms moving from west to east in interior portions of the region, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the area. The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. A radar image of the region above from 2:45 p.m. Friday shows the storms. 'Widespread' Flu Activity Now Reported In New York: Here Are Counties Most Affected
With all eyes concentrating on the ongoing COVID-19 crisis with the Omicron variant raging, flu season has quickly and quietly snuck up on New Yorkers, where flu is still being categorized as "widespread." 19: Movie Theaters Cleared To Open Statewide, Except In NYC, Cluster Areas
Movie theaters outside of New York City can reopen statewide next week, except COVID-19 cluster zones. Those theaters were cleared on Saturday, Oct. 17 to operate at 25 percent capacity under state guidance starting Friday, Oct. 23. No more than 50 people will be allowed in front of each screen in each movie theater at once. Theaters can only open outside of New York City in counties that have COVID-19 positivity rates of less than 2 percent on a 14-day average and do not have any cluster zones, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. On Day 78 of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, New York State has doubled its capacity to reach 40,000 diagnostic tests per day and has rolled out a new website to show New Yorkers where they can find the nearest testing site.
