Metro-North May Raise Parking Fees At Some Stations
Parking may be getting a bit costlier for Metro-North riders. The MTA is reviewing a proposal to increase fees at 25 station parking facilities that are controlled by the railroad. It would impact riders east of the Hudson River, including the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines. Permit holders for 16-hour parking would pay an average of $42.75 annually, approximately 12 cents a day. Customers who use daily meters will pay an average of $14.17 more monthly, with the meters increasing by 50 to 75 cents for 16-hour parking. Bear Tranquilized After Climbing Tree In Town Of Poughkeepsie
A black bear had to be tranquilized and pushed out of a tree by police in the Town of Poughkeepsie after drawing the attention of area residents. Officers received reports from the Arlington section of town at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, when the bear was spotted in a tree between Taft Avenue and the Raymond Avenue extension. Police tranquilized the bear while it was in the tree and an officer climbed up and pushed it onto a safe pad on the ground below. Summer is here, and so are the bears in Rockland County. A massive black bear was spotted in Hillburn, snacking on the scraps of some garbage it gained access to near the intersection of 5th Street and Hickory Avenue, Ramapo Police said. The bear gave some residents a small scare before taking back off into the woods without any incident, police said, though some were startled by the sheer size of the black bear. A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to decades behind bars for sexually assaulting a sleeping woman and a teenager in Northern Westchester. Ronal Danilo Sandoval-Campos of Purdys has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison after being found guilty on eight counts related to sex crimes dating back to 2016, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced on Tuesday. A 26-year-old man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman and a teenager in Northern Westchester.
