Community Heartbroken Over Loss Of Hudson Vallely Firefighter, School Bus Driver Community members, firefighters, schoolchildren, friends, and family are "heartbroken" over the sudden passing of a popular Hudson Valley firefighter and school bus driver. Rockland County resident Matthew M. Duffy, age 57, of Orangeburg, died on Thursday, April 25. Duffy was the Deputy Director of Plant Facilities at Rockland Psychiatric Center for 37 years before retiring in 2021. 2 Injured, Including Motorcyclist, In Hudson Valley Crash Two people were injured during a Hudson Valley crash when a car allegedly turned in front of a motorcycle. The collision took place in Rockland County in Orangeburg around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at the intersection of West Orangeburg Road and Hunt Road. According to Capt. The blaze broke out at around 8:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 in Rockland County, at Regina Court in the hamlet of Blauvelt. It happened in Rockland County on Thursday, May 7 at about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Bradley Parkway and Route 303 in Orangetown. The Orangetown Police Department responded to a working house fire on Glynn Oval in Blauvelt just before 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16.  Numerous homeowners on Glynn Oval observed a large amount of smoke coming from a neighbor's attic vent, police said. Brush Fire Burns Through Orangeburg For Hours More than seven fire departments spent several hours battling a brush fire in Orangeburg after police received a report of "an odor of smoke" in the area, according to the Orangetown Police. The call came in around 4:51 p.m. Wednesday reporting the smell near Tweed Boulevard on Clausland Mountain where responding officers found flames in the area of southwest Nike Lane, said Orangetown Sgt. Pearl River Fire Update: House Destroyed, Dog Missing Two people were injured and a family dog is missing following a fire that destroyed a Pearl River home, according to the Orangetown Police Department. The fire started around 4:20 p.m. Monday at 314 Orangeburg Road, and within a couple of hours had reduced the home to rubble, according to Det. Sgt. James Sullivan.
