Suspect Nabbed For Stealing $33K Worth Of Phones In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A 35-year-old man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing $33,000 in cell phones. Tairon Pressley, of the Bronx, was arrested after an investigation into a highly organized retail theft of cellular phones, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. He is accused of using stolen account information from cellular customers to steal Apple and Samsung smartphones from the Middletown Walmart on Route 211 on several dates in February and March, Nevel said. Pair Of 14-Year-Old Students Charged In Hudson Valley School Shooting Hoax
Two 14-year-old students have been charged in connection with a call to a Hudson Valley school reporting an active shooter. The incident occurred in Orange County around 12:10 p.m., Friday, March 8 at Monhagen Middle School in the town of Wallkill. According to Lt. Robert McLymore of the Wallkill Police, officers responded to the school after a 911 call was made reporting the shooter. A man who has been arrested for multiple crimes in the Hudson Valley is headed to prison. Orange County resident David Mead, age 32, of Middletown, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 5 to three to six years in prison in connection with previous guilty pleas to burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. According to Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler, after Mead pled guilty in Nov. 2023 he was re-arrested three times while he was pending sentence. Orange County resident Trevon Hudson, of Middletown, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday, Feb. 20, followed by 10 years post-release supervision. Two people were shot and one was stabbed outside of a popular Hudson Valley bar. The incident occurred in Orange County around 4 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 18 in the vicinity of Whispers Cocktail Lounge in the town of Wallkill. According to Wallkill Deputy Chief of Police Antonino Spano, all three victims went to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown.
