Plane That Departed From Westchester County Airport Crashes Into Power Lines, Causing Outages
A single-engine airplane that departed from Westchester County Airport crashed into a transmission tower in Maryland, causing a massive power outage and taking hours for rescuers to reach the two victims inside the plane.
The Mooney M20J, owned by MFC Corporation of Washington, DC, left Westchester County Airport in White Plains, late in the afternoon on Sunday, Nov. 27, and crashed into the wires near Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, Maryland, around 5:40 p.m., said Rick Breitenfeldt of the Federal Aviation Administration.

A suspect has been apprehended after a 32-year-old man was found shot to death on a street in the area.
The incident took place in Rockland County around 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, in the area of South Midland Avenue, south of Depew Avenue, in Nyack, said the Orangetown Police.
When police arrived on the scene they found the victim, an unidentified man from Haverstraw, with apparent gunshot injuries.

A man killed when a small plane headed for Westchester County Airport crashed into a home in Maryland has been identified.
Gordon Allen, 61, of Bronx, died about 3:10 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, when the Grumman American AA-5A plane he was piloting crashed in College Park, located in Prince George's County, said the Maryland State Police.
According to a preliminary investigation, the plane had departed the College Park Airport just minutes prior to crashing.

Rockland County resident Zanib Naveed, of Pomona, was killed around 11:40 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, in Prince George's County on Route 1, said the Maryland State Police.
According to police, Naveed was driving a 2018 Mercedes CL2 eastbound on the Inter-County Connector, when she went around a curve, hit a curb and overturned into oncoming traffic, state police said.
