The positive COVID-19 infection rate in the Hudson Valley is creeping toward 5 percent as the region remains a hotbed for the virus. Hudson Valley counties were reporting a total of 1,311 newly confirmed COVID-19 infections on Thursday, April 1, as the region continues contending with the latest spike of cases across the country. In just a matter of days, the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Orange County has jumped to 19. Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus made the announcement on Monday, March 30, during his daily update on the county's website. In addition to the jump in the number of deaths, the county is also low on ICU beds with only 14 percent of the county's 199 total beds available for use, Neuhaus said. All hands are on deck as job postings for healthcare workers and cleaners have reportedly spiked amid the COVID-19 outbreak. 19: 24 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Westchester As State Total Hits 950
With testing for the novel strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19) ramping up throughout the state, New York has seen 221 newly confirmed cases the last 24 hours, bringing the statewide total to 950.
