Rockland DA Serves Search Warrant At Hi-Tor Animal Shelter
The Rockland County District Attorney's office has executed a search warrant at Hi-Tor Animal Shelter. The warrant search began around 8 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the shelter located in Pomona. Officers could be seen going in and out of the shelter trailer throughout the morning but officials with the Rockland County DA's office have not released any information. Rabies Exposure Warning Issued By Rockland Health Department
A warning for potential exposure to rabies has been issued by the Rockland County Department of Health. The department is asking anyone in the community who may have any knowledge of a woman and girl who dropped off an 8- to 9-week-old kitten at the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona on Friday, June 26. This family may have been exposed to rabies and the family may need to seek immediate medical attention, the department said. Rockland Opens Sain Building For Hi Tor Animal Care Center Amid Ringworm Outbreak
Following the closure of the Hi Tor Animal Care Cente due to an outbreak of ringworm, Rockland County officials announced that the empty Sain Building will be used to provide shelter. On Friday, Nov. 23, Rockland County Executive Ed Day received a letter from the center's Board of Directors seeking any assistance the county could provide during the outbreak of ringworm, a fungal infection, that has affected the shelter's cat population. Rockland County Exec: Pay, Or Take Your Strays Elsewhere, Spring Valley
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center’s Board of Directors are going to battle with Spring Valley officials after they failed to pass a resolution that would include their share of costs related to animal control. If Spring Valley refuses to pay their part, Board President Debbie DiBernardo said that Hi-Tor will no longer accept animals brought into the shelter by the Village of Spring Valley Police Department.
