Security measures proved effective when five unknown men were denied entry to a high school in Westchester County, police said. On Friday, Jan. 20, five unidentified men tried to enter Eastchester High School at the school's single point of entry but were prevented from going inside by a security guard, according to Eastchester Schools Superintendent Ronald Valenti and Eastchester Police. The owner of several popular Westchester County pizzerias who could often be found enthusiastically cheering on his children at their little league games has died. Eastchester resident Mike Provenzale died on Friday, Dec. 23 at the age of 52, according to his obituary. More than two dozen Hudson Valley high school students were among the 300 that were chosen as semifinalists at this year’s prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS). A pair of high school students from Westchester were among the first responders to leap into action to rescue survivors who crashed a seaplane on the Long Island Sound.
