A 52-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history will spend years behind bars after breaking into an Orange County Dollar General and fleeing with stolen goods on a bicycle, prosecutors said.
Middletown resident John Redner, 52, was sentenced Monday, March 24, to 2.5 to 5 years in state prison after pleading guilty to third-degree burglary, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Tuesday, March 25.

Man From Region Charged With Robbery Of Gas Station
A 38-year-old man from the region was charged with the alleged robbery of a gas station and attempted robbery of a dollar store.
Sullivan County resident Ollen Eck III, of Livingston Manor, was charged on Tuesday, April 9, for the Saturday, March 16 robbery of the Sunoco gas station, and the attempted robbery of the Dollar General, both in Livingston Manor on Monday, March 18, according to the New York State Police.
Following his arrest, Eck was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.

Officer Injured Attempting To Arrest Shoplifter At Area Store, Police Say
A police officer was injured during a confrontation with an alleged shoplifter at a Dollar General store.
The incident took place around 12:24 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Dollar General at 534 Main St., in the City of Poughkeepsie.
When the officer attempted to place the suspect, Romairo Stroman, 40, of Hyde Park, into custody, he pushed the officer to the ground injuring the officer, said Poughkeepsie PD Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
The officer then attempted to use a taser on the suspect, but the taser failed to penetrate the suspect's clothing.

Covid-19: Alert Issued For Exposure At Store In Area
An alert has been issued for potential exposure to COVID-19 for those who worked at or visited a store in the area.
Sullivan County Public Health Services is alerting anyone who visited the Dollar General store on 100 Main St. in Livingston Manor on the following dates and times that they may have been exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID and was contagious:
Monday, Oct. 5 between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 6, Wednesday, Oct. 7, Friday, Oct. 9, Sunday, Oct. 11 or Monday, Oct. 12 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
