Ten suspects are facing a host of charges for their roles in an auto theft ring that was tied to more than 225 vehicles, including some in Westchester. New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York Police Department Commissioner Dermot Shea announced that 10 members of an auto theft and distribution operation are facing charges for their roles in the theft ring. James said that the alleged suspects were charged for criminal possession of 45 vehicles during a six-month period and their roles related to the theft and resale of more than 225 vehicles throughout downstate New York. …

Alert Issued For High-End Auto Thefts Believed To Be Part Of Dangerous Out-Of-State Crime Ring
A rash of thefts of high-end automobiles has prompted authorities to issue an alert to area residents. The thefts have occurred mainly in the southeastern part of Dutchess County during the late-night/early-morning hours, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said. So far, the perpetrators have stolen vehicles that were unlocked with the keys or fobs inside and accessible. Woman Uses Stolen ID To Get $52K SUV From Northern Westchester Auto Dealer, DA Says
A 30-year-old woman has become the latest person arrested after a string of thefts from auto dealers in Westchester. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced the arrest on Tuesday in the theft of a Toyota SUV from a Mount Kisco car dealership using a stolen identity. Shamakia Walker turned herself into Mount Kisco Police Sunday. She was arraigned in Village of Mount Kisco Justice Court on two charges: grand larceny in the second degree, a Class C felony, and identity theft in the first degree, a Class D felony. Know It? Police In Ramapo Seek Van Used To Steal BMW Rims
Police have released surveillance photos of a van believed to have been used to steal BMW rims from a Rockland business. Ramapo PD detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a Ford Ecoline van that was used at approximately 1 a.m. on April 16 to steal the rims from a business. Police said the suspect vehicle - which is believed to be a model from between 1991 to 2004 - was dark in color.
