Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Two Injured In Officer-Involved Reston Shooting (Developing) Two people - including an officer - were injured during a shooting in Reston on Monday morning, police say. The Fairfax County Police Department confirmed at around 11 a.m. that there was an officer-involved shooting in the 11800 block of Sunrise Valle Drive. Investigators say that one person was shot and rushed to the hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. An officer also sustained less severe injuries and were hospitalized. Man Dies From Injuries Sustained During Severn Shooting, Police Say A man found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in Severn late on Sunday night has died from his injuries, Anne Arundel County police confirmed. At around 9 p.m. on Sept. 15, officers were called to investigate reports of shots fired in the 8200 block of Marlton Court, where officers were met at the scene by fire personnel already on hand assisting a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Two Men Get 100+ Years For Nine Day Shooting Spree That Ended With 13-Year-Old's Death: Feds Two men will spend the rest of their lives in prison for a nine-day shooting spree throughout the DMV region that resulted in the death of a teenage boy, federal authorities announced.
